Berrys Bay, a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

This is Berrys Bay on the north side of Sydney Harbour. It's one of many secluded bays around the harbour. The boats belong to people who live nearby. You have to be as rich as Vladimir Putin to own a house here these days.

The steamboat on the right is an old ferry that used to run from Circular Quay to the beach suburb of Manly. It was built in Scotland and sailed all the way to Sydney to take up its role as as a commuter ferry. Now it's a floating restaurant.

Hello Vincent,
Putin is sometimes reputed to be the richest man in the world, i.e. having stolen more than anyone else, so clearly some of those living here are not quite as well off as he. ;-)
But it's a nice view to enjoy as an outsider before returning to the misery of your own neighbourhood. Maybe I could afford a meal at the floating restaurant.

This is such a lovely and peaceful view of the bay. The calm water has such a nice blue colour, which is a great background for the several sailboats. The city in the distance looks great as well.

Hi Vincent,
Although this place is not familiar to me I can see the top of the Sydney Tower. All these bays are wonderful, and using ferries has been my favourite thing on my visits to Sydney. Really well framed view with lots of boats. Interesting note about the Manly ferry.

A good photo of a bay I used to visit when growing up (I lived not far away but well away from the water in a small cottage.) Good colour and distorted reflections.

Hello Vincent,

I hope that richness is the only character that connects them with Putin, for he is an evil man in so many other ways!

The scene looks almost pristine, if that adjective can be applied to a harbour scene. It is the emphasis on blue, which is a very 'clean' colour!
It's a very well chosen composition, the sea filling the f/g, given extra, visual interest by the ripples and supporting the details of the many yachts.
The line of buildings makes a super separation line, giving the blue sky the remaining third, its cloud details mimicking the ripples on the sea.
