Some old mine workings that are part of a still operating mine in Broken Hill - the CBH Rasp mine, named after Charles Rasp, the boundary rider who discovered mineral ores in Broken Hill. His actual name was Hieronymous Salvator Lopez von Pereira, born in Stuttgart.
I cannot find out what the significance of the May 13th is.
In the WS is a photo of another working mine.

Hello Ian,
Both photos make it clear that mines don't create beautiful surroundings, but that doesn't make them less interesting. Maybe May 13th was just the day someone with a brush and a pot of paint happened to be up there.
Best regards,
Gert

Pozdrav dragom komsiji sa fotografijom na TE.
Lep pogled i trenutak, dobar tekst ...
Zelim vam sve najbolje.

Hi Ian,
I didn't know that Charles Rasp was not his real name. I wonder how he got it. Also interesting that he had a Portuguese name but was born in Germany. A man of mystery. This photo gives a good idea what the mines in the area look like - plenty of rust and rock. I prefer the workshop photo that shows the mine in its setting within the arid and lonely landscape.

Hi Ian,
The scene is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the mine buildings and of the machinery. The light is giving good colors output. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, industrial architecture; everything there for a reason.
Not the prettiest of scenes but very interesting nevertheless.
Maybe one day the spoil heaps will be covered with vegetation.
More than worthy of a shot or two, thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Ian,
Such industrial spots are so photogenic! You made a great use f it.
The great weather with blue sky made a difference too.
I think 13th of May is particularly unlucky of all 13th.
Maybe they shut it down on that day?
Very well spotted,
M

Hello Ian.
An original composition with the structures of this old mine, in the middle of a wild landscape, the bright day and the strength of the colors highlight everything.
Well done. I like it.
You have a good day.
Very best regards
Luis.
