On this trip so far I've taken you across NSW through small towns and the mining city of Broken Hill.
I'm now taking you north of Broken Hill and into the real outback of New South Wales.
Creeks in the outback just flow briefly after rain. The rest of the time there is a sandy creek bed dotted with River Red Gum trees. This is Stephens Creek a bit north of Broken Hill. The creek bed is probably 100 metres wide. If there is heavy rain the road north from Broken Hill is immediately flooded and closed.
In the WS are 2 more photos of Stephens Creek.

Hello Ian,
Red soil indicate a rich minerals residue's on this land. No wonder the area has several mines for all kind of materials.
Fine view through the Eucalyptus grove.
Have a nice sunday,
Ike

Hello Ian,
This is a very strange scenery of trees seemingly growing straight out of the mud, or sand. It should be slippery when wet. Interesting views, also in the WS.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Ian, Nice view of this temporary creek. This view reminds me the landscape in Alice Springs. I like the gum trees. I remember that there were huge amount of flies, in the Red Center. I wonder how it is in Broken Hill.
Best regards MAlgo

Hi Ian,
The wideness of the field is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the trees. There is a good contrast between the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian,
A very nice landscape with a mix of these trees and the reddish soil in the foreground, which also adds lots of nice shapes and textures, including some footprints.

Hi Ian,
Quite an extraordinary soil with the unique red color. I like it. I bet this would look even more striking in the full sunshine!
Great reportage,

Hello Ian,
In one of the WS photos, I saw mud, so it must have rained recently. I like the contrast of greenery to the red soil.

ian
curious as the trees used the dry bed to live, facing the brief floods and using the water after, a curious landscape, even the dry regions of brazil are different of this.
take care
