My Favourite spot, a photo from New South Wales, East

Photographer's Note

This would have to be my favourite spot in the blue mountains, it's just so peaceful even with the hoards of tourists.

Ok I have been experimenting with borders and adding titles to my prints, so please be brutally honest, what do you think?

PS: I will be adding this to Liora's theme "my favourite spot"

I can understand why this would be your favorite spot, and you took a very nice picture of it - brutal honesty time :o) I'm generally not a big fan of frames and titles, it makes it look a bit like a tourist info leaflet, but when done right I don't mind that much, I think the title is way dominant here, maybe a smaller type, and a greyish shade to the writting. But why not let the beautifull scenery speak for itself..?

Two points for a great shot, and experimenting :o)

A very tricky place to photograph in strong Aussie sunlight, but I like it very much - with the ferns around it it reminds me of Russel Falls, TAS ;-))
If it's a place you go to often, I'd suggest you try something, I hadn't the time to do at Russel: Choose a slightly overcast day and then do as here, tripod + long exposure. If this was indeed not taken in strong sun, then try an even higher F-stop and experiment with the shutter speed.

It does look like a very nice place.

To be brutally honest, the white border is okay, but the title looks very cheesy. Suggestions: smaller font, use a simpler thicker font with fewer narrow swooshes to it will look better at small sizes (the antialiasing is causing large parts of your letters to just fade out, your name looks really bad), and a less contrasty color if you're going to keep it on white. Your name, for example, is not obtrusive. The title text, smaller, in a simpler font, in the lower left-hand corner would probably be just fine.

P.S. is this really 15 second, and not 1/15? I'd expect more reciprocity failure, but don't have any real experience with Sensia.

Yes, a lovely place, and I believe this is you on this pic and you took the shot with a delay... why don't I think of using the delay switch, it does make the image more interesting with somebody in it... I personaly am not to fund of written titles on a photo on such a site like TE since we already have a place to write down the title, it could be interesting for other sites who do not offer the possibility of a note such as Webshot, but here I think it distracts a little. I already see some overexposure on your forehead and on the rock on the left but it is well compensate by the darker areas and it does show that there was a bright sun there

Well composed shot, I like the clarity in the water. Did you shoot through a polariser, was one even needed? I'm not a great fan of the border, I prefer the simple black or white frames but it's good to experiment. My only niggle would be the exposure on the man's face, the left side seems a little flat- it doesn't look blown out but it seems a little bright-- on my monitor at least. It may not actually be the case. On the whole this is a great rendition of Wentworth falls, I never managed to get down to the base, I viewed it from across the valley- at the lookout nearby.

As a side note-- Sensia is supposed to have a very good tollerance for reciprocity failure, so much so that if I remember the data sheet correctly (for the 200 version) that they don't really quote any numbers. Probably good out to 10 seconds or so, maybe longer.)

The border doesnt bother me. The high contrast does. Well composed & smart choice of shutter speed to blur the water. Good composition, also. I'd also add some yellow & red. It seems a bit 'cold' to me. (blue cyan?)

First of all: I can understand why this is your favorite spot.
I too think that it is a nice pace to be.
About the borders: generaly I don't like them and often they are not necessary.
Adding some titles can give information of the photo. Be sparse with them!
