Auckland City taken from North Head, overlooking Devonport, on the North Shore.

This was taken early evening, 1 hour 20 minutes before sunset. The sun was getting low in the sky and the clouds were building up over the city.

In the Maori language, Auckland is known as Tamaki Makau Rau, 'the city of 100 lovers'. It earned this name because it was a place desired by all and conquered by many.

The Auckland region is a mixture of so many different geographical environments, with three harbours, two mountain ranges, 48 volcanic cones and more than 50 islands.

Auckland's population is approximately 1.4 million, making it by far the largest city in New Zealand, with one third of the country's entire population.

ok, this is a rare view (for me) of Auckland. I mean, I guess many pics are taken from there, but rarely do we see any part of Devonport. I think it's nice.
I make an attempt, knowing absolutely nothing about what is the set up there, how much space you have to move, etc... I would have liked just a tiny bit more of Auckland, so maybe a couple meters on your right, to avoid a bit of that tree (keeping it in the frame, but uncovering abit of Auckland).
Light is not at its best. If you live there, try going back a bit later (that was taken in the evening?) to get a golden glow on the city.

Hi Janice. Nice catch, you even managed to get Auckland痴 icon in on the act ;-). You have managed the difficult light well to get detail in the bright sky. Well composed and thanks for sharing.

Such a lovely place!! I'm not a huge fan of cities, but this is very pretty! Good framing and detail. It's nice to have a peek at your city. TFS

your POV is very good, showing the contrast between Devonport and its beautiful old houses and the modern cityscape on the other side. The moody colors are creating a very nice atmosphere. And your management of the light is excellent. TFS!
