Photographer's Note
Welcome - Haere Mai
This is Long Bay Beach, Te One-roa-o-Kahu
North Shore, Auckland
New Zealand, Aotearoa
Long Bay beach is only 8 kms north of where I live at Murrays Bay. It is one kilometre long and is a very popular setting for many activities. Long Bay is a great place to bring the family for fun at the beach, and is less than half an hour痴 drive from Auckland city. During the week, especially when the tide is out, you will see people walking, running, and dog-walking along the beach.
Walking tracks: The coastal walk offers panoramic views of the Hauraki Gulf, native bush, farmland, sand-dunes, an estuary and rock pool sea-life.
Picnics: There are several bookable picnic sites at Long Bay, one of which can hold up to 500 people.
Swimming: This is usually a safe swimming beach.
Playground: There is a playground and a miniature train at Long Bay.
History: The name given to Long Bay beach by its Maori occupants was Oneroa, which means long expanse of sand. The area that includes Oneroa had been occupied by the Maori since before 1400. Much later, the land was farmed by the Vaughan family until it was purchased in 1965 by the Auckland Regional Council.
Distance from Auckland: 25 kms (30 mins drive)

Hi Janice,
An interesting composition where you put a lot of emphasis on the beach! Good colours and details and you capture a lot of different activities going on... is that a golden retriever in a distance..? :-))

Lovely colours again Janice. After not seeing a beach for so long I can almost smell the salt air. Good POV, TFS.

Hi Janice. A good shot from the beach in which the huge amount of sandy foreground provides a good way to support the depth. I like the inclusion of the walking/running people and the deep DOF that renders a reasonable amount of detail all the way to the background. Informative notes, too.

Hi Janice.
Nice view of this beach. The people on the beach add interest, and the sky looks great (and that's good for the photo).
Also a good sharpness.
It's a nice work.
Regards.
