Yachting on the Waitemata Harbour, Auckland
These yachts are sailing on the Waitemata Harbour .
I took this photos from Devonport on the North Shore of Auckland. The water here is very deep and the boats can sail quite close to shore. Even the cruise liners and merchant ships come up here past Devonport.
For those of you who have visited Auckland, the building on the far left, on the water line, is Kelly Tarlton痴 Antarctic Encounter and Underwater World.
And the yachts opposite are moored at Okahu Bay on the waterfront at Auckland.
Check out the Google Map and you can see exactly where the yachts are sailing on the Waitemeta Harbour.

Very good photo. I think it's a bit tilted... but maybe it creates the feeling, that the yachts "fight" with the sea, wind etc... but they should use the power of wind... err... I don't know, but I like it. :))

Hi Janice, nice regata shot. I am sailing and I know how nice is to be on the yaht with good wwether. Good compo, maybe too much sharpnes.

Ahh, the City of Sails! :-) It looks like it was a nice day for a bit of competition on the water, although the weather looks very typically NZ - CLOUDY!
In spite of the overcast conditions, your pic appears colourful and nicely composed. It's a very pleasant scene of what we expect to see on the Waitemata.
I was going to make raise the point about the tilted horizon line but I see Olaf has already mentioned it so there's no point in me rubbing it in ;-)

OK, I won't mention the tilting again! :^)
Other than that, it's a picture full of action with the wind blowing in the sails and the boats competing. I love the color of the water and the dramatic sky.
I'm amazed at the quality of the Google Map (not that you are responsible for it, but I like this feature, it adds to the understanding of the place).

Very nice photo on this temple of sailing.
Your picture is not horizontal.
The houses on the right are a bit blurry.
Meanwhile I really like your picture.

Very good composition with these boats. I like the colors and details of the boats on this picture. Great sky with white clouds. Very good shot, Bravo!
