Photographer's Note
Yesterday was a brilliant day on Chatham Island. As it was Saturday this is usually our biggest tour day so fine weather always helps. I made a morning tea break with my group at this delightful beach on the north coast of the Island, known as Ocean Mail. There are also two interesting nature walks here - one a Wetland Walk & the other the Aster Walk (to see the unique Chatham Island swamp aster which are currently flowering.
The unusual name of the beach, Ocean Mail, comes from the name of a ship wreck at a reef not far offshore while en route to South America. The flowers on the beach are non-native senecios from South Africa, according to the DOC sign at the beach. Note how crowded the beach is on Saturday morning!

Hi Neil,
Woaw, fortunately you've centered the picture in the horizontal middle,so i do not have to choose between perfect sky and amazing foreground...
I like the "thrilling" clouds and...the absence of sharks!
Best regards my antipodean friend (nothing farthest from you than Belgium)...

A really stunning composition, which allows the image to share the wonder of the colorful foreground, and that beautiful blue sky. Really nicely done.
All the best

Hello Neil - Now this is a beach! Deserted and unspoilt. I love the coastal plants growing across the dunes... ah! I see they are native to South Africa, how did they land up here? Well they add a brilliant splash of colour and contrast to this marvellous location. A very attractive shot. Warm regards rosemary
