On a bright sunny day the sun was going down with just the top of Mt Cook left in the sun.
In the WS is the last sun on a nearby ridge.

Hello Ian,
Fascinating view of the sun remaining on the upper part of the mountain and still enough light on the ground for a good exposure. The road and the car are fine elements of the composition. Nice WS too. I have rarely had such fine views from any hotels.

Hi Ian,

The presence of the car has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details of Mount Cook. The last rays of the sun are giving nice colors to the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ian, So it is possible to be so close to Mount Cook by car. I went everywhere by bus. Spectacular composition.

You just barely had enough light forb this moment, but managed a good contrast from the dark part to the lit summit-ridge.

The car clearly helps to underline the grandeur of the landscape.

in the main post we can think the peak is so near of the highway, but probably this is an ilusion. nice images with excellent light.
