Just before you drop down to Milford Sound you pass through some high mountains and then drive through a one way tunnel.
The main photo shows a small waterfall draining water from a ridge top glacier.
WS1 shows another alpine scene.
WS2 shows the entrance to the tunnel from the Milford Sound side with people waiting for their turn to drive through. The first time that we tried to go to Milford Sound 11 years earlier in 2000 the tunnel was closed due to a snow avalanche.

Hi Ian,
Great landscape, well photographed, impressive glacier circus with the high waterfall, good Ws too. Your shot reminds me alsmost a same landscape in Pyrenean mountains with the Cirque de Gavarnie. Tfs

Hi Ian,
The scenery is impressive. The point of view is showing the details of the small waterfalls. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hi Ian,
Massive and beautiful looking end of a valley where melting water from a glacier falls. Places like that can be found in Switzerland. I wonder if glaciers retreat in New Zealand as fast as here in Europe.

Hello again,
This is a photo that shows how great nature is, even without human presence. I think that this photo would look good even in BW.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Gosh, Ian, there is so much stunning, dramatic scenery in N.Z.; no wonder it was chosen for the setting to 'The Lord of the Rings'!
I do like your main photo. with the water plummeting over the bare rocks which looks like a giant step. The photo is beautifully composed.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)
