Photographer's Note

Since Alexandre, Celma, Lucas and Paulo are posting informative images about Manaus and surroundings, allow me to offer you my visual impressions of that region.

Manaus is colorful. Manaus is hot: something like 34ｰC during the night. You sweat no matter the time of the day, thatｴs it. You try to survive the heat.

When we left Belo Horizonte, the local temperature was around 20ｰC. 4 hours later, by lunch time, it had increased to 38ｰC. We were wearing jeans, tennis shoes, coats.

First we had to negociate with taxi drivers. Because Manaus is not a recurrent destination, they do not feel committed to offer you an outsanting treatment. Thus, we decided to take the bus (with air cooler!). Theyｴre small and rather uncomfortable if youｴre carrying luggage and equipment. And you begin to sweat desperately. The sun beats the right hand side of the seats all the way to downtown.

Then youｴll have to carry your stuff around to find a free room in a hotel. If you decide to stay in a hotel in the dutty free area, youｴll be very near the Gon軋lves Dias Square, best known as the Police Square. Every evening, from 7pm to 9pm there is this dancing water event, and families and friends get together to watch it.

A sua nota � rica e a foto bem diferente daquilo que esperamos ou queremos ver de Manaus e seus arredores ... Isso � bom, pois vemos coisas que os outros n縊 nos v縊 mostrar.

PS. J� experimentei temperaturas alt﨎simas em Manaus. ﾉ aquele calor pegajoso que entra pelos cabelos. Apesar de Teresina ser super quente, acho que o calor de Manaus � pior.

Oi Isabel,
gostei da mostra deixando a silhueta dos garotos ao fundo. O movimento da 疊ua ficou interessante pelos 1/40 segs.

Sua fotografia a princ厓io me deixou meio confuso, mas lendo sua nota muito boa mesmo, achei que a imagem n縊 podia ser melhor para ilustrar todo esse seu sentimento, ali疽, isso faz realmente parte de uma viagem ao desconhecido, onde temos boas ou m疽 impresss, mas todas, sem exce鈬o, ficaram pr� sempre registradas em nossa alma!
