Photographer's Note

The stilt houses, common in the surroundings of Manaus on Rio Negro and Rio Solimes, are built with high stilts to prevent the flood from reaching the floors. There are hundreds of them, some better, others more humble, but all facing the same risks of diseases and infections brought by the floods.
