In fact, there isnｴt an expression like this one in the title in portuguese language. Neither an equivalent, as far as i remember. Speakers of english as foreign language will learn idioms in the advanced level ;)

Butterflies in the stomach is a medical condition characterized by the physical sensation of a "fluttery" feeling in the stomach. This sensation can be a physical sensation related to the body's fight or flight response or it can be an ineffable experience related to the psychology of true love or nervousness.

Some believe that this is caused by the release of epinephrine (adrenaline) when one is nervous, pulling blood away from the stomach and sending it to the muscles. This reduced blood flow, in turn, causes the stomach to temporarily shut down, and possibly the reason for reduced appetite during love sickness.

Condition as a Psychological Response

Butterflies in the stomach is most often experienced prior to important events, related to nervousness and can be experienced in situations of impending danger.

It is common for one to feel butterflies in the stomach when in the early stages of a relationship. It can be caused by nervousness and fear of the unknown. Butterflies in the stomach are often seen as a positive and harmless sign of subconscious feelings for romantic interest and are caused by the release of mood altering endorphins. They are especially frequent in teenage romances and studies show that this symptom is more frequently experienced by females than males. Many adults who have experienced multiple relationships themselves tend to experience this feeling more frequently at the time of an important life event. Sometimes just sitting back, relaxing and taking deep breaths can help to relieve the feeling.

Hello Isabel,
Leaving the romatnic aspects aside for a moment, this is a well captured view of the butterflies, sharp and clear and in fine back-light. You can see their tongues licking the wet surface.

Tr鑚 joli spectacle de papillon tous v黎us de vert et belle transparence. Chez-nous on dit bien qu'on a des papillons dans l'estomac, dommage que vous n'avez pas d'駲uivalence mais vous devez avoir d'autres expression qui veulent dire la m麥e chose. Belle pr駸entation et on dirait presque les papillons sont en 3D.

Hello Isabel,

I remember having butterflies in my stomach when nervous but then, when I was expecting my first child, his first movements gave a similar sensation.

A very unusual shot.
The backlighting has given a transparency to the wings of the butterflies which is quite delightful.

Incrivelmente perfeita. Eu nunca mais havia lembrado dessa express縊: borboletas no estago, mas de vez em quando elas teimam em fazer um estrago no meu, por exemplo quando vou abrir o boletim mensal de notas de minha filha.

antes mesmo de comentar a foto, gostaria de dizer que a nota est� excelente, no m匤imo informativa. Quando li o t咜ulo, fiquei pensando "o que ser� que ela quer dizer com isso?"...voltando � foto, � um momento muito bonito e dif兤il de capturar. Tantas borboletas assim juntas nunca me passaram pela cabe軋. Fez-me lembrar de uma composi鈬o premiada que vi numa revista e parece que havia sido tirada no Amazonas. N縊 lembro o nome o cara nem da foto em si. Well, excelente registro!

muito interessante mesmo essa foto das borboletas, eu apenas tentaria deixar o amarelo apenas delas bem mais vivo, mas n縊 sei se era poss咩el, tem que analisar a original e se foi em RAW a captura tamb駑. Reparou como a cachoeira da Maria tava bem mais cheia que quando fomos?
