Puerto Natales Sunset, a photo from Magallanes y de la Antartica Chilena, Patagonia

Photographer's Note

Puerto Natales is a city most will have to stay when visiting Torres del Paine National Park in Patagonia. It is a nice enough town to walk around. I don稚 really know what the building is, what I was interested at the time what the clouds and the sunset mood. The mountains you see in the distance are part of the national park.

Accuracy of the information below is not guarantee, something I gather through different sources:
Puerto Natales is a city in Chilean Patagonia. Puerto Natales is the capital of both the commune of Natales and the province of ﾚltima Esperanza, (Spanish for "Last Hope"), one of the four provinces that make up the Magallanes and Antartica Chilena Region in the southernmost part of Chile. The city is located 247 km (153 mi) northwest of Punta Arenas and is the final passenger port of call for the Navimag ferry sailing from Puerto Montt into the Seret Channel as well as the primary transit point for travelers to Torres del Paine National Park, Chile.

The city was settled by European immigrants: The largest groups are Germans; British such as the English, Welsh and Scots; Croats; Greeks; Italians and Spaniards. Later settlement by Chilean people, with a substantial number coming from the Island of Chilo�, all attracted by the sheep-raising industry.

Nowadays, one of the most important activities is tourism although cattle production and the fishery industries are also significant.

lovely colour and light in the sky and on the yellow building. some of the other bright coloured objects like the ship are a bit distracting from these main items, but clearly nothing you can do about those, the overall effect id very pleasing. The foreground shore is nice and sharply detailed

A beautifully composed sunset picture , with superb soft colors , and outstanding cloudy formations . There is one thing that seems curious for me : the tilt of the yellow building . But i suppose that is your choice to present the picture like this .

Hi Wayne,

When such cloud formation takes place above your head, you have to find something, anything to complement the picture and make sure you immortalize them, hopefully with a good addition.

Fortunately, you were at the right place at the right time, with a divine light in the sky and quite an interesting building to present. Yes, I have noticed the tilt like Denis, as the pole next to the frame doesn't forgive and the tower is also leaning, but I am mostly amazed by the clarity and the excellence in your post-processing - this talent of yours is perceptible throughout your work, so I don't mention it all the time.

Just for the smile, the ship looks like if it's made out of Lego blocks, with its colours and cubic aspect.

Puerto Natales is a pleasant small city. From there I made very interesting excursion by kuter- one full day to Seno Ultima Esperanza and a glacier.

Love this, truely an amazing shot at late hour of the day. Very sharp and wide coverage almost all things there. I love the clear view that adds flavor to the scene and the warm light quality is fabulous, the sky is just wonderfully filled by dramatic cloud formation. The framing is perfect, with the colorful buildings set in harmony with the glowing hues of the sky. Hi Way,
I did not get there. We were instead approaching the Torres del Paine from Argentina, and the park was the only place we have visited in Chile.
Puerto Natales seems charming but the extraordinary timing and spectacular sky helped you to create a real masterpiece.
As usually you have perfectly used the opportunity.

This is a very different composition to your usual. Just as beautiful but concentrating on architecture rather than rugged landscape. I love the collours and the pastel sky is just magical. Quite a different shot from you & the composition as always, is excellent. Like the effect of the sunset light on the clouds & the reflection in the water. The building is nice but non descriptive. The clarity is excellent & is apparent when we see the mountain peaks in the far BG so very clearly. I certainly have so much of PP techniques to learn from you...your mastery is quite clearly evident here

Beautiful sky above Puerto-Natales,their springtime - opposite side of the world... Fine compo., Way.
You write "National-Park", but the size of this park is so big that taken days to cross by Muchileros, some i know personally.
