Oculus once more
One of the most important functions of a photo camera for me is the zoom options.
A good image usually consist of many details that each yield interesting compositions.
Certainly in architecture, every detail is important. Of course primarily for the structural architectural qualities of a building: construction, use of materials, building physics, functionality and other, but it is also essential for the aesthetic quality of a building.
I want to illustrate this with the three photos in this presentation. Three pictures of the impressive construction of the Oculus in New York (one of the most photogenic buildings I know).
The photos are taken from the same position practically in the same direction. Only the degree of zooming in differs.
This has resulted in three different impressions, each with its own character.
The main photo only shows the straight lines of the more or less vertical frames.
The 1st workshop photo zooms out a bit, which also shows the kink in this construction section.
The 2nd workshop gives a traditional photo with the overall image.

Hi Rob,this place is a mine for the photographers and all can experiment something of different. The classic view of the WS is useful to understand better to who is never been there as me,the other 2 pics are great ideas,i like a lot these solutions, and you're a master to do that! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Rob,

Hello Rob,
I have noted before that the Oculus must be one of the most photogenic recent buildings (or from any time), and these three photos confirm my observation. With very small alterations you have taken three photos which create very different impressions. My compliments both to you and the architects.
Best regards,
Gert

Dag Rob

Dear Rob,
Though it is a really simple photo, in the meantime its an excellent abstract, which earned its place amongst my favourites.
Best Wishes,

Hello Rob, you chose the right shot for your main post, it has us guessing and wanting to discover more!
The subtle changes in light are very interesting, so although the lines are straight we see curves too.
The traditional shot helps us to make sense of the close ups, is an excellent shot, and we can spot the different features that you chose to zoom in on.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Hi Rob
Amazing shot that looks like an abstract painting. I like your choice of frame and the diagonal composition. The WS photos give a useful overview on the whole.
Best wishes

Dag Rob,
Hier is men wel degelijk geslaagd in hun opzet.

Vele groeten, Paul

Hi Rob,
Nice repetition of the oblique grey stripes in this superb b&w shot in colour! There is the just the fainest hint of a pale green tint. The darker tones at top right add variety. Tfs!

Hello Rob,
I always love seeing photos from the Oculus. I like your idea to show the same spot from three different zooms. The main photo is a great abstract shot. The lines and the contrast of light and shadow are elegant and eye-catching.

Hello Rob,
In this case, we are slowly moving outwards rather than inwards, as is often detailed.
I found it a very interesting experience to concentrate on the different areas, creating different patterns and then see from where they originated.
Excellent!
Have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello, Rob!
Very nice graphical effect achieved here in this abstract photo! I like the tight framing on the architectural details of the building, as explained better in one of the workshops! The result is great and very attractive! Very nice job!

Ciao Rob
Fare queste foto sempre un po' come giocare, a me diverte molto.
