Photographer's Note
I have returned from a visit to my home country, Poland. As usually, on such occasion I tried not only to visit my family but also see some beautiful spots around the country. I apologize, I have not visited TrekEarth for several weeks now, being either on the road or simply very busy.
The very first picture from my trip presents Zamosc. It is an extraordinary town, which was founded by Jan Zamojski, exactly 440 years ago. The town was build in the middle of nowhere with an attempt to create an ideal (according to Renaissance standards) town. Even though Zamosc has a good connection with Warsaw, it is a great challenge to get there from my home town, the roads this direction are dreadful, but I am glad I did it.
These beautiful Armenian tenement houses in the central spot of Zamosc illustrate that Poland was once a multinational, multicultural and a tolerant country with wise leaders. Following trends from the west, political scene in Poland gets very much polarized. Political standards reach a new low level also there. I am glad that in some aspects politicians are strong enough to oppose the pressure from EU establishment, however there are some things which are not acceptable. Gay rights should not be treated as a 電angerous ideology as stated by Polish president. I am quite ashamed of such statement. I believe gay pride parades bring in yet another color to the society similarly to processions organized by Catholic Church. People should respect each other no matter what their sexual or political preferences are. Having said that, being disrespectful does not seem to be a domain of one political side anymore.
Let me finish this note with a poem by Adam Asnyk (1838-1897) which I translated with Google Translate. If you like it, have also a look at a more poetic translation in the comment from Piotr.
To the young
Seek the truth of the bright flame!
Look for new, undiscovered roads ...
Behind every step into the secrets of creation
The human soul spreads more and more,
And God becomes greater!
Though you shake off the flowers of colorful myths,
Though you dispel the legendary darkness,
Though you strip away the fog of delusions from the blues,
Heavenly people will not run out of delight,
But their eyes can see further.
Each era has its own goals
And forgets about yesterday's dreams ...
Therefore bear the torch at the head of knowledge
And take a new share in the ages of work,
Raise the edifice of the future!
But don't trample on the altars past,
Though you are to elevate yourselves more perfect;
The holy fire still glows upon them,
And human love stands guard over there,
And you owe them honor!
With a world that is already darkening
With a rainbow of perfect dreams
Let true wisdom reconcile you -
And your stars, young conquerors,
In the dark they will go out again!

Hello Mariusz,
Such a charming view of this market square with lots of colourful fa軋des, each with its own bright colour and lots of appealing details and decorations. You found an excellent high vantage point, which overlooked this part of the red tiled square nicely, including the outdoor restaurant.

The buildings are very colourful, and are obviously well cared for; there are some lovely decorations.
The high point of view served you well.
The restaurant and souvenir stall add to the composition.

Hello Mariusz,
Good to see you back safely and sharing with us some of your explorations.
This is a very attractive square, with pastel coloured houses and arched facades, that give a superb, long perspective.
The cafe and small stall give good, f/g interest and seem to fit into the scene like pieces in a jigsaw puzzle.
The weather looks idyllic and the colours have responded accordingly.
I read you poem with interest.
It is full of ideals and the world would be a better place if these were followed, especially by the young, aspiring peoples.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Bev :-)

Troche zazdroszcze ci tych podrozy po Polsce, ja jezdze co miesiac, ale nie moge sie nigdzie wyrwac. Bylam w Zamosciu dawno temu, ale te urocze kamieniczki zostaly w mojej pamieci.
Super zdjecie, idealne swiatlo, najlepsza chyba pora dnia.
Jak zwykle ciekawy komentarz, ktory daje do myslenia. Google Translate robi sie coraz lepszy. :-) Bardzo lubie ten wiersz.
Pozdrawiam serdecznie

Hello Mariusz,
Wonderful the different colors of the very similar style on each facade.
The view from street level with the people at the stands and parasoles and to the depth of the big square, superbly collected.
Good evening,

Hi Mariuz,
You have a good higher angle to these lovely old buildings. Not very big but quite colourful and well decorated. That market stall catches my attention too.

Znalazlem bardziej "poetyckie" tlumaczenie wiersza Asnyka (autorstwa p.Zawadzkiego), takze przed gogoglowskim programem jeszcze przyszlosc np wprowadzenie tlumaczenia poezji/prozy/tekstu technicznego etc :)
The brightening flame of truth pursue,
Seek to discover ways no human knows.
With every secret now revealed to you,
The soul of man expands within the new.
And God still bigger grows!
Although you may the flowers of myths remove,
Although you may the fabulous dark disperse,
And tear the mist of fancy from above;
There'll be no shortage of new things to love,
Farther in the universe.
Each epoch has its special goals in store,
And soon forgets the dreams of older days.
So, bear the torch of learning in the fore,
And join the making of new eras' lore.
The House of the Future raise!
But trample not the altars of the past!
Although you shall much finer domes erect.
The holy flames upon the stones still last,
And human love lives there and guards them fast,
And them you owe respect!
Now with the world that vanishes from view,
Dragging down the perfect rainbow of delight,
Be gently reconciled in wisdom true.
Your stars, oh, youthful conquerors, they, too,
Will fade into the night!
pozdrawiam
Piotr

Hello Mariusz,
So you managed to travel abroad during these corona times.
I heard a lot of Zamosc but have never been there.
Photos of this beautiful city always show a most interesting architecture. Also this picture here. However, I didn't know that these were Armenian houses. I don't remember seeing this kind of architecture in Armenia.
The facades look wonderful in the different colours and with the many architectural decorations while the terrace has an excellent setting.
For some reason I have the impression it was a very warm day then.
Best regards, Paul

Mariusz, these multicolor houses draw attention. They have a long history. The elevated viewpoint allows to see them from a good angle. They include arches where terraces of cafes are installed at street level. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Hi Mariusz.
Great POV with this beautiful line of facades that form a spectacular diagonal, each house with different ornaments and different colors, the only thing in common is that kind of finish finished in that kind of balls.
Very interesting place and nice poem.
A fantastic photo, with beautiful natural colors, very good lighting and excellent clarity.
Well done. I love it.
Enjoy the weekend.
Very best regards.
Luis.
