Photographer's Note
A swing and a miss - Strike 1! Having looked at the satellite image of the Cathedral Wash area before heading north for the hike, I "knew" I needed to take one of the tributary arms of the wash for the quickest approach to spire I hoped to circle. This arm ended, as far as I was concerned, at the base of a dry 30-foot (10 m) waterfall. The shear sandstone walls may have been no obstacle to an experienced rock climber with equipment, but I have neither the experience nor the equipment. The Workshop is a more traditional view of this waterfall.

To handle the extreme lighting condition I exposed for the sky then, in Photoshop, increased the sky's contrast. For the walls, I lightened the shadows and increased the exposure.
