Photographer's Note
Hi, this is from Canary Wharf on the Isle of Dogs in London.
It was very windy on the night this exposure (and a series of others) were taken, hence any hope of getting near perfect or mirror-like reflections in the water was most unrealistic.
So to at least settle for something that could still be appealing visually, a long exposure was sought by going to F/16 (for 13 seconds).
The warm yellowish hue is due to tweaking the White Balance in RAW to 'Shade'
Your critiques are most welcome.
Thanks :)

Hi Daniel,
I like this place very much. Impressive buildings close to the Thames.
Nice shot capturing this place at night. Great light and reflections. Suitable framing as well.
Great work!

Hi Daniel,
Quality of you night picture exposure is brilliant and I always enjoy much the frozen water effect, I like less the cut building on the left, how about taking two vertical overlapping shots ans stitching them ?
Have a nice sunday JY

Hi Daniel
There are some stunning photo's in your TE portfolio so far, but this I think is the least of them. The reflections in the water good, the yellowish hue you mentioned seems warm and natural. Just there isn't so much detail in the buildings, they're not so sharp. Sorry to be perhaps a little negative, but you have set very high standards so far. And it is still a decent shot.
best regards

Beautiful lights & colors. I have never done a long exposure shot like this before. This is inspiring. Water shines really nice. And the suggestion of Jean is worth trying. Regards. Latiff.

Hi Daniel. Great long exposure to get this very sharp and vivid shot. No matter about the reflections! I do think that with this type of geometric shot you need to straighten up the sides of the photo to get the full effect. The tallest building has a distinct lean to the right and you can see the same lean against the left side of the photo. Anyway, that's a minor point as the other qualities of the photo are excellent.

Andrew

The quality of the picture is very good. Colors are great abd the sharpness is excellent. I agree with Pixelterror though, cutting of the left building is harming the overall quality. A stitch of 2 vertical overlapping shots would improve it a lot.
Greetings, John.

Hi Daniel!
A high quality image with fantastic light and nice lights in the many windows.Well done with the exposuretime to recieve this calm surface of the water and these wonderful reflections.
I remember a great shot from the same place in vertical format posted by Aubrey Stoll(rosaline)He wrote, using tripods in this complex is forbidden,Anayway it`s a fantastic image.

Hi Daniel,
You have a fan in me, after looking at your personal portfolio. I have read your profile and it痴 interesting to know what brought you to photography and the style you致e developed, mostly taking advantage of the blue hour.
The result on this particular one is highly attractive and the scene is brilliantly exposed. I really like both artificial and natural light. Excellent work!
Never too late to welcome you on TE! Enjoy!

Hi Daniel,
A magnificent capture of this night London scene.
I like so much all the light caught from the buildings, and its yellow hues, it makes a perfect balance between cold tones and the warms ones.
A very good composition also!
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,

Yo Daniel!
Really nice colours in this photo and it's understandable as it would be near impossible to get the shot completely sharp due to conditions. I like the composition as I think it is interesting and provided good levels of perspective. Also the little lens flares on the street lamps are a nice touch. Keep up the good work!
Cheers!

Daniel,
Nice night shot! The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF. I wish you could have captured more of the buildings on each side of the river but this is still good. The reflection is nice giving the photo a warm feeling. Your have done a nice job of of balancing artificial and natural lighting here showing us the best of both.
TFS,
Asa

Superb shot Daniel- I love it!
White balance is always an interesting subject when it comes to night time exposures as the lights always come into play. The sharpness in this shot is SUPERB and it sets it apart from the rest.
Very well done!

Hi Daniel !
Great view indeed ! I have visited Canary Wharf in summer 2003 (during the heat wave) and I was fascinated by this part of the city, especially with the water bordering the buildings. The view is beautiful as we can see both the sky and lights coming from the windows.
Thanks for sharing Daniel.
Good stuff ! Best regards.

Hi Daniel!
You are an excellent night photographer (I am a nightshot lover, too!). Your portfolio is still small but very impressive. The composition is very well studied, balanced, excellent in one word and so is the perspective. What's really impressive, though, is the light managment which is perfect. Congratulations and thanks for sharing this beauty!
