Lion is the symbol of Iran since ancient times for more than 2500 years .
On Perspolis walls (500 B.C.) you can find lots of images of Asian lion (Persian Lion) who was the symbol of Power.
Unfortunatley this animal is Extincted inside Iran but still stands as Iranian symbol.
Befor revolution (1979) the symbol was standing even on the flag of Iran but after revolution , they removed the "lion & sun" . But still lion is the symbol of Iranians all around the world.
