Moving further west our Route 66 journey passed through Albuquerque, New Mexico. We had stopped to photograph the iconic Aztec motel, built in 1932 and listed in the National Register of Historic Places. To our surprise it had been demolished in June 2011 except for the sign (please see the WS). However, close-by was a neon art gallery with this rather graphic side-wall. I love the simple lines and bright colours but perhaps not to everyone's taste.
